Clary Sage is known to have various aromatic and medicinal properties. It has a stimulating effect on the uterus and can encourage contractions, so should not be used during pregnancy before 38 weeks.
Clary Sage helps to reduce pain and anxiety.
It also has oestrogen-regulating and stimulating properties so has a long association for use with menstrual problems including PMS and menopausal symptoms. It may also be used to ease symptoms of postnatal depression by helping to balance the hormones.
It relieves stress and tension and sore muscles and is said to promote pleasant dreams and enhance dream recall.
Native to the north Mediterranean coast, Clary Sage was used by the Greeks and Romans for its euphoric, sensual and aphrodisiac qualities.
How To Use:
Clary Sage should not be used directly on the skin or be mixed with any other essential oils.
- Add a few drops to an oil burner or diffuser to scent the room.
- Add a few drops to a tissue and place nearby so you can inhale the scent.
- Add a few drops to 15-20ml unscented base massage oil (such as Sweet Almond) and massage into the skin.
- Add a few drops to a bath (without any other products added to prevent reactions occurring).
