Perfect size for using as a receptacle for the placenta, vomit or any other material which you may not want to use a kitchen bowl for!  Also can be used to collect urine when needing to supply some for a test or keep it at hand during birth so that you don't have move when you have gotten into a comfortable position and then find you need a wee.
